For Those Who Prefer Solitude: How to Live in a Crowded World

I am often feeling as though I don’t want to be in crowds---they make me uncomfortable and I feel like I am drained of energy afterwards. I really prefer solitude, but often due to my work and life I have to be in crowds. What can I do?

The Astral level of the physiology is the kavach, (shielding). If it is has been compromised due to illness such as viruses, bacteria, or parasites, this can make a person vulnerable to influences from the outside.

It is said by saints that even the smell of a rotten bus can be the final stroke of experience that brings enlightenment. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi liked to say that even from the thorn, the hardest part of the plant, we can access the sap, the underlying reality which is present in both thorn and flower. All this universe is a reflection of Brahman, all is the play of Brahman, and you are all That.

Even so, it could be your intense desire for enlightenment which is driving you always inward and making the outer experience seem like a burden.

At some point, integration between the inner and outer is necessary for refinement of perception and the ability to eternally know God. So, making you stronger will help you go into any situation without faltering.

Here are some useful points to remember:
  1. There is a cord of light or consciousness which runs from the crown of the body, to the center of the Earth. It grounds you, but also serves as a channel to receive strength and stability from Mother Earth. You can use your attention to intentionally draw good, stable Earth energy up into your body, through this cord, before entering crowds or visiting a city. A description of the cord is here
  2. Earth energy can be directed to the Astral Body to make that area stronger. A description of the Astral Body is here. You can also create subtle rasayanas/medicines at the Causal level of your being which will strengthen the Astral Body.
  3. When in public, it is possible to "pick up" energies from those around you, through psychic hooks and cords.

  4. The best way to let these cords go is as follows:
  • Picture yourself, as if you are standing behind your body looking at your back. If you have trouble "picturing" then feel along the spine, at the chakra locations.
  • Notice if there is any energy blockage at any of these locations.
  • With attention on the location of energy blockage, intend to sweep the cord away. Sometimes I add that I am sending this back with love.
  • These cords release very easily.
  • Check regularly, as they can come back easily too.
There comes a point where the distinction between the individuality and the collective no longer exists. Then one experiences invincibility. In the meantime keep diving into the field of the Self of All, through meditation. This will cultivate the eternal experience of the self as One, with the creation. Then all parts of your universe will serve to support your intention, well being, and health.
